After years of braces and orthognathic jaw surgery, his lower jaw kept growing, causing a protruding lower jaw. Mandibular growth is common at a younger age that continues to around 20 years of age. The jaw surgery was done at about age 15, and the mandibular growth in the following years left him with a lower jaw pushed forward and an underbite. When the lower jaw is pushed too far forward (prognathia) it leads to a protruding chin. The lower teeth overlap the upper teeth, and most of the time, there are physical issues with underbites.
He decided that it was time to change his life, health and appearance. His chin sticks out, his posture is compromised, and he is not speaking clearly.
Mental health becomes a more significant issue when teenagers are teased because of the way they look and sometimes the way they talk when having a mandibular protrusion. They have self-confidence problems because they feel and sound unattractive with a big looking jaw. Because if self-esteem issues, we have had parents want the Face Lift Dentistry® method done right now even though the jaw may continue growing. The treatment may need modification in the future however, it is far better and a much easier fix than another jaw surgery with more years of braces. The point is that this method provides fast and predictable results that do not require grinding down healthy teeth, braces, aligners, or surgery.
Some of our patients report headaches that began at about 35 years of age. These patients had years of braces, rejected jaw surgery, and simply decided to live with the underbite. The physical health issues can increase with sleeping problems, tongue position problems, compromised chewing, digestion and eating, breathing, neck pain, slurry speech, sleeping problems, and jaw tension and stress. We test all of our patients with JawTrac® to see the shape of their new face, jawline, and experience pain relief before any work starts to the teeth. It does not take very long to know that the Face Lift Dentistry® method has significant advantages.
Dr. Sam Muslin wants you to understand one of the single most important aspects of his treatment method. Your big lower jaw is not as big as it looks. How can Dr. Muslin decrease the size of your lower jaw? The secret is JawTrac® Technology because it moves the forward lower jaw to the jaw position that the lower jaw should have had from the beginning. The forward lower jaw appears artificially larger because of its misaligned position. JawTrac® aligns a misaligned jaw without decreasing its size. All patients with underbites have a physically compromised, forward lower jaw positions making their jaw look bigger. The big lower jaw does not need jaw surgery all of the time, instead of the painless, no force, JawTrac® Technology, the ideal jaw position is located, tested, and proven. You cannot prove braces, jaw surgery, or aligners.
The purpose of this website is to show you the extent that a jaw can be realigned without jaw surgery. There are many examples of all types of bite correction problems. Every person is different, and the advantage of this method is that on your very first visit to the office, Dr. Sam Muslin will show you the extent your jaw can be realigned. He has also discovered that it can align even more once you start wearing JawTrac®.
When your jaw is in the wrong position, your muscles get tense, causing other muscles to brace against the tension. Head and neck tension can cause the head to be in an unusual postural position. Head posture and subsequently, neck strain can be the result of a misaligned lower jaw. Chewing, speaking, breathing, and posture are all part of the Face Lift Dentistry® method.
Dr. Muslin says, “Your jaw is not as big as it looks, and it can be fixed, corrected, and optimized in just 8-days for most patients.” The TMJ (jaw joint) is a critical component of this treatment because, for the first time in the patient’s life, they will experience the coordinated jaw position that works in harmony with the jaw joints. Our patients know something they never knew before and can see the new shape to their faces along with getting physical healthy problems reduced, and in some cases, eliminated.
We don’t want to ruin your style; we want to improve your style. Our patients get the revolution Face Lift Dentistry® transformation by having Dr. Sam Muslin create the artistic masterpiece of you. As one of our said recently, “When you consider what you are getting physically and cosmetically, it is cheap.” Dr. Muslin locates your optimized lower jaw position, shows it to you, so you know what you are getting cosmetically to the soft tissues of your face, and then adds VENLAY® Bite Restorations to your teeth to make your new jaw position your new bite. He custom builds VENLAY® bite restorations by hand, one at a time, to add to your teeth. The solution is nothing less than remarkable.
From our experience, patients that had braces or aligners spend thousands of dollars on it. Then jaw correction or jawline surgery cost about $35,000. The patients have to go to the hospital, get the surgery, miss work or school for a month or two, jaws wired shut, and it may not be successful. The braces, aligner, jaw surgery treatment method may cost between $40k and $50k and take two or three years to complete. Think of the cost of all of the time. When you count up the hours, days, weeks, months, and years, there just has to be a better way to correct an underbite. Traditional treatment is very expensive in terms of time and money.
