Beyond Veneers and Cosmetic Dentistry - No Drilling, No Surgery
Wider smiles are possible with just placing porcelain veneers on the outside of the patient’s teeth. If the smile needs a little bit of widening, then porcelain veneers are an acceptable choice because they can be placed on the outside of the teeth without grinding down healthy tooth structure.
Considering that people are living longer lives, non-invasive dentistry is the best choice. It is important when getting a wider smile that the porcelain veneers are made of high tech porcelain. There are many companies that are marketing porcelain veneers but the porcelain is not the same quality.
The best cosmetic dentists have the ability and the understanding as to which porcelain would work best on each patient depending on the bite, the amount of color change and the degree of lengthening. We are seeing too many patients that are very unhappy with the ugly porcelain veneers that were placed on their teeth.
The smile may be wider but the patient is a victim of bad porcelain veneers. The problem with bad porcelain veneers is that the cosmetic dentist uses only one type of porcelain for everyone. This is a big mistake.
He saw Dr. Muslin on the television show "The Doctors" with a few of his patients that had undergone Face Lift Dentistry®. He saw that Dr. Muslin could completely rebuild a smile while still making it look natural. He heard one of Dr. Muslin's patients talking about how his jaw pain and headaches were minimized after the treatment. As someone who suffered from "daily" headaches he wanted to see what Dr. Muslin could do for him.
This patient traveled from the state of Washington to see this particular dentist. He could have had work done in his own state, but being a physician himself, he understands that there are huge differences between the skill level and the quality of care. He also understood from seeing the website that there was something special about this particular dentist and decided to fly in with his wife and both were treated to Dr. Sam Muslin’s exclusive Face Lift Dentistry® treatment.

At his consultation he told us that he took ibuprofen daily for headache pain and that his jaw would get tired. He showed extensive signs of grinding, also known as bruxism, and his bite was over closed. Dr. Muslin explained to him that all of these symptoms were neuromuscular problems. His bite was out of balance and that his jaw was not in the ideal position for his health. Most patients do not have the most ideal jaw position for their health.
Most people just accommodate to a bad bite that gets worse with age and sometimes they don’t even know that they are wasting a lot of energy with a bad bite. Bad bites that do not cause pain are a big problem because the patient doesn't know the damage being done to them from a health prospective.
From a cosmetic standpoint he was very clear that he did not want a super white overdone smile but rather something that was believable. Dr. Muslin showed him that all of his teeth angled in towards the center of his mouth which was making his smile narrow. Several of his teeth were too short and some appeared almost sawed off which is the direct result of grinding.
This patient needed deep overbite correction dentistry. With an overbite gaps develop between the top and bottom teeth which can lead to various other problems, such as slurred speech. Dr. Sam Muslin’s Face Lift Dentistry® is designed to correct deep overbites very quickly. Sometimes in just two visits a deep overbite can be corrected with his non-invasive dentistry.
Choices for treating dark stained teeth explained.
The goal of deep overbite correction is the utilization of a neuromuscular dentistry method to remove the stress from a deep overbite but getting the jaw into a neuromuscular stress free position without jaw surgery. Dr. Muslin deeply appreciates his patients that have given him permission to show their full faces of his work on the Internet. He considers it the ultimate testimonial.
The best way to treat tetracycline stain is to save all of the natural healthy tooth structure. Dr. Muslin recommends that the patient does not allow the cosmetic dentist to grind down the teeth for tetracycline stain because the stain gets darker as the tooth structure is cut away. He uses special high grad porcelain that can hide the tetracycline stain but yet have translucency and look completely natural.
After taking complex motion tomography images of his jaw Dr. Muslin designed his full mouth reconstruction around the functional dynamics of his jaw joint. By changing the proportions of his teeth and the balance of his bite Dr Muslin can actually slide his jaw into the optimal position without surgery.
This repositioning can reduce jaw pain and fatigue, alleviate headache or migraine pain and minimize TMJ symptoms. The key to success is that every proportional change must come together in perfect harmony to go beyond a full mouth reconstruction . . . it is a full Dental Face Lift®.
When Dr. Muslin non-surgically repositions his jaw through changes to his bite he can now lengthen the upper teeth. Dr. Muslin says, “A new jaw position happens naturally if the bite can be designed to achieve it.”
The secret to a wider smile is Face Lift Dentistry® because of the ability to actually add porcelain that elongates the teeth that gives a smile that is wider than just porcelain veneers. Notice in the before photo that very little of his upper teeth are visible. This effect is making him look older because as we age our teeth naturally shorten every year from grinding and wear.
To capture a more youthful essence the presence of the upper teeth must be restored. To give him a wider smile Dr. Muslin modified the angles and the length of all of the side teeth. Rather than have dark shadows in the corners of his mouth he now has a full and vibrant smile. The key to anti-aging dentistry is to create the look of a younger person.
Young people show more upper teeth when they are talking and older people show lower teeth when they are talking. Ninety-five present of the time, we are not smiling, we are just talking so one of the secrets to anti-aging dentistry is to change the occlusal plane and jaw position to create the face of a younger person.
The second secret to anti-aging dentistry is facial support by the teeth and jaw position. Some dentists only have the ability of treating the teeth and have no clue as to how to three dimensionally reposition the lower jaw without surgery. Face Lift Dentistry® treatment is the ultimate in anti-aging dentistry and also prevents premature aging and the methodology has bee clearly developed and by the number of happy patients viewed on this website, it is clear that the treatment is highly predictable.
Preventing the aging process totally evolves around facial support of the teeth. When the teeth shorten just a little, the patient looses facial support. When the teeth wear down just a little the patient looks a little older unnecessarily. Premature aging is the direct result of having a bite that is not the best bite for the patient’s face. Premature aging is the loss of height, width and recessive chin position resulting from bad bites. Face Lift Dentistry® treatment is the ultimate treatment to prevent premature aging and can also benefit the patient with it’s anti-aging results.
To keep the look totally natural, Dr. Muslin developed each tooth to capture what he calls the "critical elements". He explains that "most dentists never see the work once it is sent to the lab and they very rarely work on the four critical porcelain veneers elements of translucency, surface texture, anatomical shape, and subtle color variation themselves".
When any one of these four design components are not developed properly the teeth will look fake. He gets incredible results by listening to his patient’s desires and he also gets results because he works on every single patient’s porcelain veneers personally.
He shapes and designs the porcelain for the customized bites and wider smiles that are required of the best cosmetic dentists in Los Angeles.
Look closely at his after pictures and you will see translucencies in the porcelain and surface textures that mimic natural tooth enamel. Also notice that Dr. Muslin designs each tooth to have minor shape differences that all come together to create a harmonious smile.
None of the teeth are bulky or oversized. Each tooth is accented with subtle color variations within the porcelain which keeps everything looking real. Any dentist can deliver a smile of white, opaque, and bulky teeth but if you want to look natural Dr. Muslin has the artistic eye, ability, and lab ceramist to make it happen.
Every single patient of Dr. Muslin's tries in their work before it is bonded into place and this patient was no exception. After looking at the work in the office and then also outside in natural daylight his wife asked if his teeth could be a little whiter. The good news is that Dr. Muslin has developed a custom bonding method where he can actually shift the color of the porcelain slightly. This shift is what he calls his "white boost" technique.
Both the patient and his wife were very happy with the final results and they actually came to Dr. Muslin for treatment together. When everything was finished they sent Dr. Muslin an email that said, "We are very appreciative. The entire experience far surpassed anything we could have ever expected. Traveling a long distance to see you was worth the trip”.
